Welcome

BIOGRAPHY

Alex Telfer is an award winning lens-based photographer & director with an innate ability for telling human stories. His distinctive cinematic style is balanced with a sense of vulnerability, portraying the lives of his subjects with empathy and emotion. Alex creates wonderfully atmospheric moments with layers of detail and narrative, inviting the viewer to explore his immersive environments.

Throughout his career, Alex has travelled extensively for personal assignments, bringing to life compelling imagery for advertising campaigns, broadcast & editorial features worldwide. Known for his collaborative approach and problem solving, Alex has developed a reputation for shooting ambitious imagery in-camera and commissioned by iconic brands.

Growing up in the North of England, in part formed Alex’s decision to develop his practice from the north, illustrating the dignity of working people through his work. To this end, in 2003 Alex renovated a derelict 19th century church in Newcastle, transforming it into Kingsland Church Studios, a thriving community creative hub.
